Operation Market Garden is the largest joint airborne and land operation ever. Its aim was to seize the bridges on the road from Eindhoven to Arnhem and cut off German forces in the Netherlands. The next step was to strike deep into Germany and thus end World War II even before the end of 1944. Unfortunately, due to many mistakes and poor planning, the operation was a fiasco.

Il suo scopo era di catturare i ponti lungo la strada che andava da Eindhoven ad Arnhem con il conseguente isolamento delle truppe tedesche in Olanda. L'opération Market Garden fut l'une des plus vastes opérations menées par les Alliés durant la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Elle avait pour objectif la capture des ponts sur l'axe Eindhoven-Arnhem et d'encercler les forces allemandes aux Pays-Bas. L'étape suivante consistait à frapper au cœur de l'Allemagne et ainsi mettre fin à la Seconde Guerre mondiale avant même la fin de 1944. Malheureusement, en raison de nombreuses erreurs et d'une mauvaise planification, l'opération fut un fiasco.
